While our sets of rods, particularly those tailored for carp fishing, are meticulously crafted to achieve a very close match, it's essential to acknowledge that the handcrafted nature of our products inherently entails slight variations. Unlike mass-produced, molded items, the bespoke nature of our rods introduces a natural manufacturing tolerance that is a key consideration in our production.
As the founder and overseer, I personally make judgment calls during the quality control process, ensuring that the tolerances meet and often exceed acceptable standards. Each set of rods undergoes rigorous quality control scrutiny to guarantee that our exacting standards are met before being made available to our discerning clientele.
Carbon fibre materials, specifically blanks, undergo a meticulous quality control process at the manufacturer's end before reaching our workshop. I refer to any variations in the carbon pattern as "carbon markings," which may naturally occur in the prepreg or manifest as carbon fibre layers join. Blanks exhibiting markings that do not meet our stringent quality control standards are promptly rejected. It's only after passing both the manufacturer's and our in-house quality control that a blank is deemed suitable for building upon.
The choice of an ultra-matte finish, while aesthetically pleasing, tends to reveal more markings than a varnish finish. Historically, rods were painted or varnished to minimize the appearance of normal carbon fibre variation or markings. Our conscious decision to employ an ultra-matte finish underscores our commitment to transparency in showcasing the unique characteristics of our handcrafted products.
Materials such as cork and duplon inherently carry natural and manufacturing variations. These components are carefully examined during quality control before incorporation into our rods to ensure consistency and uphold the high standards associated with Hennessy Rods.
We take great pride in dispatching only those rods that have successfully passed our rigorous quality control assessments.
